I was born and raised in a small town in far Southwest Virginia and moved to Richmond after graduating from Virginia Tech. I was very active as a kid and played lots of sports and was always interested in the arts.
I love reading and writing and I have always loved music and I started playing guitar around age 12. I studied journalism and ended up with a career as a photographer. I’ve had a full-time job in photography for more than 10 years and I love my work.
I really look forward to exposing our children to athletics and encouraging them to explore their creativity.
When my nieces and nephews were young one of my favorite activities with them was writing and creating short films.

I come from a large family and have a brother and three sisters. I’m the youngest, so I have whole bunch of nieces and nephews and now even some great nieces and nephews.
I was 10 when my first niece was born, so I’ve spent a lot of time around kids and spending time with my nieces and nephews is one of the great joys of my life.
Meghan and I love getting together with our families and can’t wait for our children to play with all of their cousins on both sides of the family. Family gatherings are always so full of energy and fun and we feel so blessed to have such great families that will help us care for and love our children.
I believe Meghan and I will make a great team raising our children and I can’t wait to be a father. Meghan will make a great mother because she’s a very loving person who cares greatly about her family and friends.
She’s also very smart and very motivated and an incredibly hard worker (you can’t be a slacker and earn a Ph.D. and then go on to teach at one of the country’s most prestigious universities). She loves teaching and having a positive influence on her students. Nothing makes Meghan happier than the letters she gets from her students expressing their gratitude for her guidance and devotion to education. She loves her students and loves seeing them go out into the world and achieve great things.
So Meghan will bring the smarts and I’ll bring the creativity and the appreciation of athletics and we’ll both bring the love to raise some well-rounded children who will have a world of opportunity open to them.
